Quincy Racquet Club crowns indoor doubles club champions

QUINCY — The unseeded duo of Brenden Everhart and Pablo Mateos Niella won a string a straight-set matches last weekend to capture the men’s open division of the Quincy Racquet Club’s indoor double club championship.

Everhart and Mateos Niella beat the second-seeded team of Ettore Pavesi and Zach Willing 6-4, 6-4. They had beaten the top-seeded tandem of Samuele Contestabile and Sebastian Gomez 6-2, 6-3 in the semifinals.

Overall, Everhart and Mateos Niella went 4-0, winning eight straight sets.

Ryan Schnack and Chris Kuhle won the consolation championship, beating Marko Cucuk and Ivan Mimica 6-2, 6-3 in the finals.

In the women’s open division, Laura Gutierrez and Steffi Lao outlasted Blanca Salas Cruz and Juliana Vidal 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 to win the championship.

In the legends 65 division, John Baird and Michael Wood beat Bob Soltys and Tom Taylor 6-3, 6-4 for the title. In the men’s 3.5 division championship, Will Meckes and Drew Koester beat Barney Bier and Joe Laws 6-2, 6-2. In the women’s 3.5 doubles, Maura and Molly Gottman overcame Shelley Arns and Anika Reddy 6-7, 6-4, 10-8.
