WINCHESTER, Ill. — The Quincy Catholic seventh grade boys basketball team won a Class 3A regional championship Thursday night, beating Winchester 33-28. John Venvertloh led the Crusaders with 11 points, while Abel Berhorst and Venvertloh both made two free throws in the final minute to stave off Winchester, who had closed within one point. Gabe Howard scored 22 points for Winchester (18-5). Quincy Catholic (12-12) will face Williamsville in Wednesday’s sectional at Auburn.
