AUBURN, Ill. — The Pikeland seventh grade girls basketball team will play for an Illinois Elementary School Association Class 3A state championship Thursday after winning two games Saturday.

The Lady Braves (21-3) will play Eureka (25-1) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Auburn High School for the title.

Pikeland opened Saturday with a 32-26 victory over once-beaten Monticello in the quarterfinals. Deeghan Allen scored 17 pints for the Lady Braves, and Reese Ramsey scored nine. Pikeland then followed with a 30-18 victory over once-beaten Paris Mayo. Allen led the Lady Braves with 13 points.

Pikeland qualified for the eight-team Class 3A field by defeating Meredosia-Chambersburg and Quincy Catholic in the regional and winning 36-14 over Athens in the sectional.
