DAYTONA, Fla. — Christian Miles’ trip to Daytona International Speedway turned into quite a happy New Year’s celebration.

The Paloma, Ill., karting phenom won all four of his races and swept a pair of championships during the World Karting Association’s Daytona Kartweek event.

Driving in the KA100 Junior class, Miles won his initial 10-lap prefinal race and dominated the 16-lap final, beating the field by five seconds. Parker DeLong, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Miles Murray, of Fairfax, Va., finished second and third, respectively.

On the second day of racing, Miles led nine of the 10 laps in the prefinal but was edged for the fastest qualifying time by 21-thousandths of a second. It didn’t matter in the final. He led all 16 laps of the championship race to complete his second Daytona sweep. Adam Brickly, of Mooresville, N.C., finished second and Eli Warren, of Grove City, Ohio, was third.

Miles swept two races at Daytona International Speedway in 2018, driving in the Mini Swift division.
