Five local players selected to participate in All-State Junior High Classic at Dunlap

All-State Junior High Classic

DUNLAP, Ill. — Dunlap Valley Middle School will host more than 170 boys from junior high school basketball teams Illinois on Saturday and Sunday at the All-State Junior High Classic.

Selected to participate were on the West team were Beau Eftink, Jackson Connoyer, Gavin Doellman and Jace Allensworth from Quincy Catholic, as well as Sawyer Allen from Unity. 

This event welcomes players from 20 out of the 32 teams that qualified for the quarterfinals of the Illinois Elementary School Association state tournaments. Players were selected based on IESA participation, coach nominations for top seeded teams this season in the four classes, geography (larger towns have nominations for each school) and administrator nominations. 

Teams were formed based on same school (if registered early), geography (area schools that were closest), when registration was received and height.  Teams will be coached by many of the state’s top junior high coaches with state tournament appearances. 

Sixteen teams will play in a minimum of three games on Sunday in a tournament to determine the winner.  Games will be played at Dunlap Valley Middle School and Dunlap Middle School.
