Jacksonville Routt 32, Unity-Payson 26. The Mustangs’ Cecil Hunt scored a pair of 12-yard touchdowns in the first half and the teams went to the fourth quarter tied at 26 in the Western Illinois Valley Conference North Division battle. The Rockets pulled out the victory as both teams walk away with 2-2 records.

At Flinn Stadium, Quincy
Chatham Glenwood 3, Quincy High School 1: Carter Venvertloh scored off an Evan Altman assist to forge a 1-1 halftime tie, but the Titans scored twice in the second half to take the victory back to central Illinois. The Blue Devils are 5-3-2.
Girls Golf
At Gold Hills Golf Course, Colchester, Ill.
Macomb Invitational: Quincy High School had three of the top four individuals and secured the team title with a 315 total. Macomb was second (351) and Quincy Notre Dame was third (366). The Blue Devils’ Saya Geisendorfer finished second with a 75 after losing a two-hole playoff for medalist. QHS’s Laci Novosel finished third and Sophia Gold fourth as both shot a 76. QND’s Hana Knuffman shot an 84.
Boys Golf
At Parkview Golf Course, Pekin, Ill.
Pekin Invitational: Quincy High School had five players break 80 and shot a 298 on the second day of the 36-hole event, finishing fourth overall with a 614 total. Luke Chevalier finished ninth individually with a 151 total, while Cameron Bergman was QHS’s low individual in the second round with a 74.
At Byron Hills Golf Course, Port Byron, Ill.
Wayne Brinkmeier Invitational: Quincy Notre Dame finished fourth with a 327 team total. Ross Thompson shot a 78 and finished 10th individually.
Girls Tennis
At Chatham, Ill.
Glenwood Titan Invitational: Quincy Notre Dame finished second in the eight-team event with junior Lia Quintero winning the No. 1 singles draw. Quintero lost just three games in winning her first two matches, then beat Springfield’s Nischi Korrapati 6-4, 6-0 in the title match. The Raiders’ Olivia Ley was second in the No. 2 singles draw, while the No. 2 doubles team of Ava Jacobsen and Alyssa Ley also finished second.
At Marshall, Mo.
Marshall Tournament: Palmyra won both of its duals to win the title. The Panthers beat Marshall 6-3 and Sedalia Smith-Cotton 6-3. Against Marshall, the Panthers won four singles matches with either 8-1 or 8-2 victories and then swept the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches to win the dual. Molly Gottman and Jaynee Durst at No. 2 and Abbey Mann and Jeorgia O’Brien and No. 3 both won 8-5. Against Smith-Cotton, Palmyra won the bottom four singles matches and the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches.
Girls Volleyball
At Moline, Ill.
QND splits: Quincy Notre Dame beat Davenport (Iowa) West 25-16, 25-12 before losing to Moline 25-18, 15-25, 15-12. The Raiders are 13-1.
At Mount Pulaski, Ill.
Mount Pulaski Fall Festival: Unity won its pool and finished fourth in the championship bracket. The Mustangs opened the day with a 25-21, 25-10 victory over Judah Christian. The Mustangs lost to Lincoln 25-23, 25-20 in the semifinals and fell to Taylorville 25-21, 28-26 in the third-place match. Unity is 10-5.
At Fenton, Mo.
Rockwood Summit Tournament: Hannibal went 1-2-1 in pool play, beating Parkway North 25-17, 25-17, splitting with Ladue Horton Watkins 25-22, 21-25 and losing to Marquette 25-17, 25-23 and O’Fallon Christian 28-26, 26-24. In the Maroon Bracket, the Pirates beat Wentzville Liberty 27-25, 25-12, 16-14 and won the bracket title with a 26-24, 25-17 victory over Parkway Central.
Prep Softball
At Shelbyville, Mo.
North Shelby Tournament: Mark Twain freshman Bronwyn Harding picked up her first varsity victory, Autumn Arndt delivered a walk-off single and the Tigers went 2-1 to take third place. Mark Twain beat Scotland County 14-6 in the third-place game as Emily Evans went 4 for 4 with a double, two triples and four RBIs. Kenleigh Epperson and Harding each went 2 for 4. Harding struck out four to earn her second victory. The Tigers started the day with a 5-4 victory over Linn County as Arndt delivered an RBI single in the eighth inning. She went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Harding struck out 10 and allowed three earned runs for her first victory.
At Hannibal, Mo.
Hannibal, Marshall split: Chloe Simms hit her first career home run — a two-run, inside-the-park round-tripper in a five-run fourth inning — as the Pirates won the opening game of the North Central Missouri Conference doubleader 9-4. Alyssa Hart and Stormy Rickey each had two hits. In the nightcap, the Owls won 8-0 as Hart had the Pirates only hit.
Women’s Soccer
At Champaign, Ill.
John Wood Community College 2, Parkland 0: The Trail Blazers grabbed the lead in the fourth minute when Alexis Miranda scored off a Maddi Meyer assist. Madi Lutz scored JWCC’s second goal in the 77th minute off another Meyer assist. Freshman goalkeeper Maddie Hill and the defense recorded the shutout. The Trail Blazers are 3-3.
At Legacy Field, Atchison, Kan.
Benedictine 1, Culver-Stockton College 0: The Wildcats fell to 0-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with another one-goal loss to the No. 24 Ravens. C-SC’s other conference loss was a 1-0 loss to No. 8 Central Methodist. The Wildcats are 4-3 overall.
Women’s Volleyball
At Student Activity Center, Quincy
JWCC splits two matches: John Wood Community College beat Lincoln Trail College 25-17, 27-25, 25-20 before losing to Illinois Central College 25-20, 25-19, 14-25, 25-13. Paige Knuffman the Trail Blazers with 28 kills in the two matches combined, while Isadora Gasparini had 65 assists and Belinda Torres had 22 digs. JWCC is 9-5.
