Pfeiffer wins Missouri Stroke Play Championship by two strokes
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Quincy’s Adam Pfeiffer put together three sub-par rounds to catapult him to the top of the leaderboard of the 28th Missouri Stroke Play Championship.
Played at the Jefferson City Country Club earlier this week, Pfeiffer overcame a two-stroke deficit after the first two rounds to post a 9-under 279 total and win his second Missouri Golf Association championship in the last calendar year by two strokes.
Pfeiffer won the Missouri Mid-Amateur Championship last summer, also played at Jefferson City Country Club.
This time, Pfeiffer opened with rounds of 4-under 68 and 2-under 70 on the opening day of play and trailed Carsen Silliman of Jackson, Mo., by two strokes heading into the final 36 holes.
Pfeiffer shot a 4-under 68 in the third round to take the lead and posted a 1-over 73 in the final round to cement his victory. Brooks Baldwin, of Warrensburg, Mo., finished second at 7-under 281.
