USTA Level 7 junior tournament coming to Greeman Tennis Center this Saturday
QUINCY — Mark Schuering and the Quincy tennis community are growing the sport from the ground up.
That means introducing novice players to the game.
This Saturday, the Great River Tennis Association will host its first-ever USTA Level 7 Junior Tournament at the Greeman Tennis Center in Reservoir Park.
This entry-level, one-day event is perfect for young athletes new to competitive tennis. Featuring a shortened round robin format, players will be guaranteed at least three matches and will enjoy a fun, supportive atmosphere focused on learning and sportsmanship.
The event will use a modified “fast four” format in which competitors play sets to four games in a best-of-3 sets match. There also will be on-court assistance during each match if needed.
The event is open to boys and girls in four age divisions — 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U. The entry fee is $30 and every competitor receives a USTA Midwest Tennis t-shirt. The entry fee is $30.
The entry deadline is 5 p.m. July 22. For more information, contact Schuering at 217-257-6662 or play10sQcy@gmail.com.
