Schuck on a Truck: Mizzou AD Laird Veatch discusses bright future for MU athletics
PALMYRA, Mo. — Now a little more than 14 months into his tenure as the University of Missouri athletic director, Laird Veatch finds himself in an enviable position.
The school’s two marquee sports — football and men’s basketball — have created a buzz and brought in substantial revenue from donors and supporters. The success of sports such as softball and women’s gymnastics has catapulted the Tigers into a more prominent role within the Southeastern Conference and on a national level.
The $250 million expansion project taking place on the north end of Faurot Field will not only enhance the football gameday experience, but it will showcase the growth of the Mizzou athletic department. Veatch is spearheading that growth.
The Mizzou AD made a trip to Jackson Park Golf Course on Saturday to be the featured speaker at the Great River Tigers Chapter of the Mizzou Alumni Association’s scholarship BBQ.
Before speaking to alumni, current students and families from Northeast Missouri and West-Central Illinois, Veatch joined Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman to talk about the excitement around Mizzou athletics for this episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Shottenkirk Toyota.
