Hannibal Pickleball Club to hold camp for youths June 9-11 at Huckleberry Park

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal Pickleball Club, in conjunction with Hannibal Parks and Recreation, will hold a youth pickleball camp from 9 to 11 a.m. June 9-11 at the Huckleberry Park courts.

The camp is designed to teach the basics of pickleball, which will include fundamental techniques, rules of the game and strategy taught by experienced players.

Pickleball enthusiasts noticed that the Huckleberry Park pickleball courts had a lot of young people playing. In a press release, Bill Baker said, “We wanted to make sure the kids had the proper instruction.”

The camp will include drills, games and friendly competition. Baker said a good foundation is needed to advance in the sport. He said the youngsters will have a good time and learn a lifelong sport.

Water and snacks will be provided during camp.

Registration fee is $35 with each entrant receiving a T-shirt. Enrollment is limited to the first 30 youngsters, ages 10-15. Register online at www.hannibalparks.recdesk/programs through May 27 or until enrollment reaches 30 participants.
