Palmyra baseball team falls behind 4-0 in first inning, musters just five hits in district title game loss

MACON, Mo. — The Palmyra baseball team’s first-inning hole proved too deep to climb out of.
The Panthers surrendered four runs in the bottom of the first, including a leadoff home run to Kennon Isaacson, in a 6-1 loss to Macon in Tuesday’s Class 3 District 6 championship game.
The Panthers’ lone run came in the top of the second when Cade Lehman drove in Colby Jones with a two-out single. The Tigers scored a run on an error in the third and a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Macon’s Preston Burns tossed a complete game on just 79 pitches while scattering five hits, striking out three and walking two. Reason Miller was the only Panther with multiple hits.
Palmyra concludes its season at 15-11, while Macon (18-5) will face the winner of the District 5 title game between Whitfield and Priory in the sectional on May 27.
