North Shelby boys, girls track teams combine to qualify in 12 events at next week’s Class 1 state meet

MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. — The North Shelby girls track team tied for fourth in the Class 1 sectional track meet at Montgomery County High School on Saturday and had state qualifiers in seven events.

Advancing to the state meet on May 23-24 in Jefferson City, Mo., for the Raiders are:

  • Mallory Griffin, who won the triple jump at 10.42 meters;
  • Hadlee Parsons, who placed third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.95 seconds; 
  • Harper Copenhaver, who took fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.47;
  • The 400-meter relay team of Griffin, Emme Jones, Adelle Uhlmeyer and Copenhaver which took first with a time of 53.43 seconds; 
  • The 800-meter relay team of Copenhaver, Jones, Parsons and Adelle Uhlmeyer which took third with a time of 1:54.57.
  • The 1,600-meter relay team of Copenhaver, Jones, Parsons and Adelle Uhlmeyer which took first with a time of 4:26.85.
  • The 3,200-meter relay team of Emelia Flores, Parsons, Adelle Uhlmeyer and Clara Uhlmeyer which finished third with a time of 11:18.59.

Glasgow won the meet with 103 points. LaPlata took second with 74.

Marion County had two girls qualify for state — Kennedy Hathaway, who was third in the 100-meter hurdles at 18.02 seconds, and Samantha Kindhart, who was third in the shot put at 9.33 meters.

Canton also had two girls qualify for state — Dannica Lewis, who was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.23 seconds, and Sophia Slater, who was fourth in triple jump at 9.6 meters.

The North Shelby boys placed ninth with 39 points. Glasgow won the meet with 63 points, edging Knox County with 62.

Headed to the state meet for the Raiders are:

  • Domenic Williams, who took fourth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:03.09;
  • The 3,200-meter relay team that took fourth with a time of 9:04.18;
  • Jake Geisendorfer, who was fourth in the pole vault at 3.29 meters;
  • Drake Plenge, who won the discus with a throw of 50.5 meters and was third in the shot put at 14.3 meters;
  • Talon McCoy, who was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 43.84 meters.
