Brown County baseball team’s 11-run frame puts it in control in victory over Rushville-Industry
MT. STERLING, Ill. — An 11-run inning put the Brown County baseball team in control of Friday’s game, but the Hornets had to survive a late Rushville-Industry rally to post a 17-13 victory and end a three-game skid.
The Hornets led 17-11 heading to the seventh inning when the Rockets put together a pair of one-out hits and an infield error to plate two runs. A two-out single by Rushville’s Nathan Stambaugh plated another run before Brown County center fielder Jack Sefton camped under a flyball for the final out.
Brown County (21-10) trailed 4-3 heading to the third inning when the 11-run outburst got going with Jack Buss leading off with a double, Myer Maxwell walking and Sefton getting an RBI single. The Hornets took a 7-4 lead before scoring seven times with two outs.
Dylan Reische’s bases-clearing double highlighted the scoring flurry.
Matt Boylen homered in the fourth inning and Maverick Henry homered in the sixth to extend the lead.
Henry and Buss each had three hits, while Collin Dieterle, Tyce Fullerton and Wyatt Kassing had two hits apiece for the Hornets. Four Brown County pitchers combined to strike out seven.
