Hannibal baseball team reaches .500 for first time since early April with nine-run victory

MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. — Patrick Arthaud and Gavin Dudley combined for six hits and six RBIs, and the Hannibal baseball team scored six runs in the seventh inning to pull away for a 10-1 win over Montgomery County on Monday.
Arthaud gave the Pirates a 1-0 lead with a single in the first inning and added a two-run triple in the fifth and a bases-loaded walk in the seventh to finish 3 for 3 with four RBIs. Dudley singled home a run two batters before Arthaud’s triple to double the Pirates’ lead to 2-0. Dudley drove in the Pirates’ final run with a two-out single in the seventh.
The Pirates led 4-0 entering the seventh before scoring a half-dozen runs. The first six batters reached base, and 11 hitters came to the plate in the inning.
Dudley, Cooper Scott and Reid Holliday each scored two runs, and Holliday went 2 for 3 and reached base three times.
Hannibal (13-13) will face Highland on Tuesday with a chance to move above .500 for the first time since April 7.
