Betz wins three events, Kuhl wins two as QHS girls track team takes second at Western Big 6 meet

GALESBURG, Ill. — The Quincy High School girls track team won six events and finished second in four to score 102 points and place second behind Rock Island at the Western Big 6 Conference meet on Thursday.

Sterling was third with 97.5 points, followed by Galesburg (94) and Geneseo (79).

Peyton Kuhl won the 800-meter run in 2:22.84 and the 1600-meter run in 5:18.86, Kuhl also joined Amick McClelland, Danielle Vargas and Anna Venvertloh to win the 4×800 relay in 10:18. Sasha Betz won three wheelchair races — the 100 meters (40.87), the 200 meters (1:12.89) and the 400 meters (2:41.46).

Taking second were Gianna Kemner in the 100-meter hurdles (16.18), Venvertloh in the 400-meter dash (48.50), McClelland in the 1,600-meter run (5:21.72), and McClelland, Kuhl, Venvertloh and Vargas in the 4×400 relay (4:15.43).

McClelland took third in the 3,200-meter run in 12:05.33.

Quincy will next participate in the Class 3A sectional on Thursday at Bloomington.
