At Payson, Ill.

Brown County 7, Payson Seymour 1: With two outs in the fifth inning, the Hornets had seven consecutive runners reach base and scored four runs to gain the upper hand. The Hornets’ Gabe Blakeley allowed four hits and one earned run over seven innings with seven strikeouts and one walk. Colby Wort went 3 for 5 for Brown County, while Blakeley went 2 for 3. Tyler Barker tripled and scored the Indians’ lone run.

At Liberty, Ill.

Illini West 12, Liberty 2: A 3-1 lead ballooned to an eight-run edge when the Chargers scored six runs in the third inning. Illini West’s Drake Mudd and Reece Shoup each had a two-run double in the third inning and both finished with two hits. Drew Dooley and Bradyn Robertson each scored three runs. The Chargers’ Logan Kissinger allowed one hit and one earned run in five innings, striking out seven.

At Quincy, Ill.

Central 13, Quincy High School 8: The Panthers scored five runs in the top of the first and never surrendered the lead. The Blue Devils committed seven errors, leading to 10 unearned runs. The Panthers’ Haley Cramer went 2 for 4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while Karly Peters and Macie Reuschel each had two hits. Brynn Krutmeier and Jaylen Lubbert each went 3 for 4 for the Blue Devils. 

At Payson, Ill.

Brown County 13, Payson Seymour 0: Taryn Moorman threw a three-hit shutout after being staked to a three-run lead after the top of the first inning. Moorman struck out seven and walked none. Cortni Law hit a two-run homer in the first inning and was one of three Hornets — Katey Flynn and Cyrah Dunlap the others — with two hits apiece.

At Mendon, Ill.

Beardstown 18, Unity 3: The Tigers scored three or more runs in each of the four innings, putting the game away with a seven-run fourth inning. Caroline Knox went 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored for the Mustangs.

At Norwoods Golf Course, Hannibal, Mo.

Hannibal d. Monroe City: The Pirates shot a 169 to distance themselves from the Panthers, who posted a 197. Hannibal’s Quinn Thomas was medalist with a 38, while Ashlin Sharkey shot a 40.

At Paris Country Club, Paris, Mo.

Paris Triangular: Canton took top honors with a 204 team score, while Paris shot a 216 and Van-Far a 233. Canton’s Trevor Biggerstaff took medalist honors with a 40, while Avery Uhlmeyer shot a 52 for the Tigers.

Boys tennis

At Hannibal, Mo.

Hannibal 7, Mexico 2: The Pirates put the dual victory away by sweeping the doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Karson Westhoff and Gabriel Foster won 10-7, while at No. 2 doubles the team of Augustus Herrin and Parker Terrill won 10-1. At No. 3, Jace Lee and Garrett Heaton finished it off with a 10-7 victory. Foster, Herrin, Terrill and Heaton won singles matches.

College baseball

At Danville, Ill.

John Wood Community College 7, Danville 1: The Trail Blazers plated three runs in the top of the first and two more in the second to take control of the Mid-West Athletic Conference game. Tyler Bickers went 2 for 3 with three runs scored, while Tristin Meny went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Jose Almazan struck out six and allowed five hits and one earned run in a complete-game victory.

Danville 10, John Wood Community College 4: The Trail Blazers scratched their way to within 5-4 following the top of the eighth inning, but the Jaguars scored five times in the bottom of the frame to put away the Mid-West Athletic Conference victory. Lucas Loos went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI for JWCC, while Brayden Hudson had two hits.

College softball

At Mart Heinen Softball Complex, Quincy

Indianapolis 4, Quincy University 1: The fifth-ranked Greyhounds led 2-1 before getting a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to put away the Great Lakes Valley Conference victory. Madeline Ruzicka and Audrey Hermann had two hits apiece for the Hawks.

Quincy University 5, Indianapolis 4: After allowing the Greyhounds to tie the Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup at 4 with a three-run top of the seventh, the Hawks walked off with the victory when Jayle Jennings singled, leading to an error by the UIndy second baseman than allowed Audrey Hermann to score the winning run. Jennings and Allyson Maynard had two hits apiece for the Hawks. Bailey Highbarger allowed four runs and five hits over 6 ⅔ innings. Jennings struck out one batter in relief and earned the victory.

At Centennial Sports Complex, Peru, Neb.

Peru State 6, Culver-Stockton College 3: The Bobcats scored five runs in the third inning and never relinquished control in the Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup. Andrea Belme, Katelyn Felt, Baylee Schneider and Hannah Menefee each had two hits for the Wildcats, who finished with 12 hits.

Culver-Stockton College 12, Peru State 1: The Wildcats scored five times in the second inning and put the Heart of America Athletic Conference game away with a four-run sixth inning. Aubrey Feiden went 3 for 3 with three runs scored for C-SC, while Alle Thompson went 3 for 4 with a home run and three runs scored as the Wildcats pounded out 16 hits.
