MENDON, Ill. — The first two at-bats for the Quincy Notre Dame baseball team against Unity were a harbinger of things to come.

Freshman Eli Johnson and senior Abram Wiewel belted back-to-back home runs in the top of the first, then the Raiders piled on 19 combined runs in the third and fourth innings — with Bradi Lahr driving in seven — to help QND run away with a 21-0 West Central Conference victory on Monday.

The Raiders’ first eight batters of the third inning reached base, each crossing the plate. Weston Reyburn capped the scoring with a two-run single that extended the Raiders’ lead to 10-0.

QND more than doubled its run total in the fourth. The first six batters hit safely, and Lahr had five RBIs in the inning — two in a single with no outs and three more on a home run that allowed the Raiders to eclipse 20 runs.

Wiewel pitched all four innings, holding the Mustangs to one hit while striking out seven.

QND (13-6, 4-1 West Central Conference) will face Clark County on the road on Tuesday, while Unity (10-7, 4-3) will face Illini West in Carthage.
