Hannibal Parks and Recreation to offer Pickleball 101 Monday at Huckleberry Park courts
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Longer days and warmer weather makes spring a perfect time to learn to play pickleball.
Pickleball 101 will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 28, at the Huckleberry Park pickleball courts. The class is free but registration is required at www.hannibalparks.org
Tom Batenhorst, president of Hannibal Park Board and Marion County ambassador to USA Pickleball, will offer the class along with other pickleball enthusiasts.
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. It is a game that is appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels. Rules for pickleball are simple, making it a great introductory sport.
Hannibal Parks and Recreation has been offering pickleball leagues for 11 years and recently updated some of the tennis courts at Huckleberry Park to be pickleball-specific.
