Pleasant Hill offense racks up 33 runs, 32 hits in winning two softball games on road

PLEASANT PLAINS, Ill. — The Pleasant Hill softball team racked up 33 runs and 32 hits in winning a pair of games on Saturday, defeating Hartsburg-Emden 25-5 and Pleasant Plains 8-4.

Pleasant Hill (7-2) led 7-0 after two innings against Hartsburg-Emden, then piled on 13 runs in the top of the third inning. Makenna Winchell had four hits, scored five runs and drove in five runs. Ada Little had four hits and drove in six runs.  Kaitlyn Borrowman and Maddie Sidwell both scored four runs and had three hits.

Winchell was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits and walking seven in four innings.

The Wolves led Pleasant Plains 5-4 entering the top of the sixth when they scored three runs to put the game away. Winchell walked and scored on a double by Ava Wombles, and Sidwell followed with a homer to left.

Winchell had three hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Borrowman had two hits and scored two runs.

Wombles was the winning pitcher, allowing seven hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out seven.
