QUINCY — The Quincy University men’s basketball team’s roster is getting an overhaul.

Since the Hawks’ season ended March 1 with an 89-77 victory over Indianapolis at Pepsi Arena, six players on the 16-man roster have entered the transfer portal.

As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 750 men’s college basketball players had entered the transfer portal. The NCAA allows student-athletes 30 days to make a decision on where they intend to transfer, and the window to make that decision is March 24 to April 22.

Among those who have already entered the portal, the two most notable are junior guard El Sieger and sophomore guard Jake Hamilton.

The 6-foot-2 Sieger, who transferred to QU from Morton College, finished second on the team in scoring this season at 12.6 points per game. He scored 20 or more points six times, including a season-high 27 points against Indianapolis. Sieger made 46 3-pointers and averaged 2.7 rebounds.

The 6-foot-3 Hamilton, who was a state champion at Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, started 25 of 27 games this season and averaged 28.4 minutes, 9.0 points and 4.7 rebounds. He led the Hawks with 35 steals and dished out 53 assists.

Also heading into the transfer portal are junior forward Mason Wujek, sophomore forward John Kelly III, sophomore guard Anthony McGhee and sophomore guard Willie Wilson.

The 6-foot-8 Wujek played in 75 games over three seasons, averaging 6.2 points and 3.5 rebounds. The 6-foot-6 Kelly played in 28 games as a freshman and just 17 games this season, averaging 5.9 points and 4.0 rebounds. The 6-foot-4 McGhee played in 34 games over two seasons in a limited role off the bench. The 6-foot-1 Wilson played in three games after transferring from Western Nebraska Community College.

The Hawks graduate only one senior in forward Todd Bieg.
