Former QU assistant Eagan receives OVC Coach of the Year honor with Lindenwood
ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Amy Eagan is turning around the Lindenwood women’s basketball program in short fashion.
The Lions went 20-9 in the regular season — a 13-win improvement over Eagan’s first season as head coach — and 16-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference to earn the No. 2 seed for this week’s OVC Tournament. The rise also earned Eagan the OVC Coach of the Year honor.
A Shelbina, Mo., native who starred at South Shelby High School before enjoying a Hall of Fame career at Truman State University, Eagan is in her second season at Lindenwood following highly successful stints at Truman State and Drury. Eagan also served as an assistant coach at Quincy University for four seasons, working under head coach Larry Just as the Hawks reached three NCAA Division II national tournaments during her stint.
Lindenwood’s 20 wins this season mark the most in the school’s NCAA Division I era and the most since the 2018-19 season (21). The Lions’ 16 conference wins are also the most in Lindenwood’s NCAA era (2011-present). This is the eighth time in Eagan’s coaching career her team has reached the 20-win plateau, and she surpassed 300 career victories this season.
