PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Luke Guthrie finished Q-School on the climb, and that should bode well when the Korn Ferry Tour season kicks off next month.

The Quincy native shot a 2-under 68 on the Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass on Sunday, finishing the final stage of Korn Ferry Tour Q-School tied for 64th after moving 22 spots up the leaderboard.

Guthrie’s finish didn’t alter his status for next season, but it did provide a boost for what’s to come.

He opened Sunday’s round with birdies on two of the first three holes, overcame back-to-back bogeys with a birdie to make the turn in 1-under 34 and then had one birdie and eight pars on his final nine. Better yet, he found more greens in regulation than he had on average throughout the week and posted his lowest score of the four rounds.

Now, it’s back to full-time golf.

Guthrie earned conditional status on the Korn Ferry Tour by finishing as the individual medalist in the second stage event of Q-School. He is guaranteed eight starts on the Korn Ferry Tour before the second reshuffle, when his play will determine where he sits on the tour’s priority ranking.

The higher the ranking, the more likely he is to get starts in future events. Guthrie has not had status of any kind on the Korn Ferry Tour since 2021.

The Korn Ferry Tour begins its 2025 season Jan. 12 at the Bahamas Golf Classic at Atlantis Paradise Island.
