QUINCY — The Quincy University women’s basketball team put up a fight.

The Hawks trailed top-ranked Grand Valley State by four points at halftime of Friday’s non-conference matchup at Pepsi Arena, saw the deficit balloon to 18 points and then whittled it back down to six with less than four minutes to play in regulation. The Lakers responded to put away a 73-58 victory.
