Men’s Soccer
At NMU Soccer Field, Marquette, Mich.
Quincy University 1, Northern Michigan 0: Jack Rhead’s penalty-kick goal in the 73rd minute led to a victory in the Hawks’ first road contest of the season. The Wildcats’ Pier Cucciati received his second yellow card following a foul in the box and was sent off with a red card. Rhead buried his second PK of the season immediately afterward.
The Hawks (1-1-0) limited the Wildcats to one shot on goal as goalkeeper Michele Barletta made one save and posted the shutout. Quincy finished with eight shots on goal and nine corner kicks as it consistently applied pressure.
Women’s Soccer
At Braddock Field, University Center, Mich.
Saginaw Valley State 2, Quincy University 1: The Hawks finished their season-opening road trip with a split after the Cardinals used a goal nine minutes into the second half to take the lead for good. After falling behind 1-0, Quincy answered as Lauren Crane scored off a Morgan Evans assist.
The Cardinals outshot the Hawks 24-8 overall.
