MACOMB, Ill. — The Macomb boys and girls golf teams each took home Prairieland Conference crowns Monday afternoon at Macomb Country Club. The Bombers boys squad finished with a combined 316, 17 shots clear of Illini West in second. Brady Scalf carded a 76, one stroke ahead of Illini West’s Nick Bruns, to win the individual title.
On the girls side, Brenlee Tibbitts and Sophie Wilson each shot 102 and the Bombers posted a 414 as a team, 36 shots ahead of second place Illini West.
Panthers use big first inning to blow out Indians
VANDALIA, Mo. — Audri Youngblood and Bradi Keller each cranked out three hits, and the Monroe City softball team scored 10 runs in the first inning in a 16-2 victory Monday over Van-Far.
Lady Birds break tie late, win sixth straight
LA PLATA, Mo. — The South Shelby softball team kept on rolling with an 11-7 victory over La Plata. Gracynn Lanpher and Bella Cook had two hits apeice for the Lady Birds (8-4), who have won six straight games.
Crist perfect at plate as Cougars hold on
EWING, Mo. — The Highland softball team staved off a Louisiana comeback attempt in the top of the seventh to win 6-3. Bailie Crist went 3 for 3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Cougars (8-4).
Tigers add insurance in sixth to get back to .500
CENTER, Mo. — Maylie Boling relieved Bronwyn Harding in the pitcher’s circle with the Mark Twain softball team leading Hermann 4-2, the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the sixth. Boling induced a fly out off the bat of Sheilah Dodorico, and the Tigers added two runs in the bottom of the inning to secure a 6-2 victory.
Chargers win ninth game in last 10
CARTHAGE, Ill. — The Illini West volleyball team dispatched of Beardstown 25-8, 25-10. Abi White, AJ Cook and Reagan Reed combined for 13 aces for the Chargers (9-2).
Mustangs defeat Rockets in three sets
MENDON, Ill. — The Unity volleyball team moved to 2-1 in West Central Conference play and avenged a loss in the Lady Suns Classic with a 25-21, 21-25, 25-17 win over Rushville-Industry. The Mustangs (6-4) will travel to Beardstown on Wednesday for another conference tilt.
Saukees squeak past Cougars in three sets
PITTSFIELD, Ill. — The Pittsfield volleyball team escaped with a 25-19, 14-25, 25-23 home victory over Winchester West Central. The Saukees (2-5) will play host to Brown County on Tuesday.
Pirates win conference opener
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Hannibal volleyball team defeated North Central Missouri Conference opponent Marshall in straight sets at Korf Gymnasium to move to 4-0. The Pirates travel to Columbia on Tuesday to battle Hickman. Hannibal will not return home until Sept. 26 when they host NCMC foe Kirksville.
Raiders dominate triangular
RUSHVILLE, Ill. — Natalie Druffel, Belle Boudreau, Meredith Eversman and Nancy Scholz combined for a 163 as the Quincy Notre Dame golf team earned a triangular victor over Rushville-Industry and Pittsfield at Scripps Park Golf Course. Druffel medaled with a 39, while Boudreau shot a 40 and Eversman and Scholz each notched a 42.
Titans win triangular at Deer Run
HAMILTON, Ill. — The West Hancock girls golf team edged out Brown County and Canton at Deer Run Golf Course. The Titans shot a 220, the Hornets carded a 225, and Canton finished close behind at 233. The Tigers’ Hanna Taylor shot the low individual score at 48.
Raiders surrender four second-half goals
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — The Quincy Notre Dame and Chatham Glenwood soccer teams played to a 0-0 draw at halftime at Illinois College, but the Titans netted four goals in the second half to pull away to their fifth straight victory.
