Youngblood powers Panthers to victory

MONROE CITY, Mo. — Audri Youngblood went 4 for 4 with three doubles and a home run as the Monroe City softball team improved to 4-0 with a 16-6 victory over Mark Twain. Youngblood drove in five runs. Kauble and Foltz had two hits apiece for the Panthers. Boling had two hits for Mark Twain.

Central inches closer to winning pool at Suns Classic

AUGUSTA, Ill. — The Camp Point Central and Rushville-Industry volleyball teams moved a step closer to winning their respective pools in the Suns Classic by winning Wednesday night.

Central beat Payson Seymour 25-14, 25-16 and can win its pool by beating Illini West on Thursday. Illini West earned a 25-9, 25-18 victory over Beardstown. Rushville outlasted Brown County 25-18, 20-25, 15-11 and can win its pool by beating Western on Friday.

Liberty got involved in the action with a 25-15, 25-15 victory over West Hancock as Maddy Gibbs had seven kills and Ava Heming had five aces and seven digs. Mendon Unity earned a 25-9, 25-17 victory over Western as Kodi Duke had five kills and 11 service points and Saylor Barry had five kills.

Chargers’ Bruns, Murphy share medalist honors

HAMILTON, Ill. — Illini West senior Nick Bruns and freshman Nolan Murphy each shot a 1-over 37 to share medalist honors as the Chargers won a nine-hole match at Deer Run Golf Course with a 161. Rushville-Industry was second with a 162, followed by Mendon Unity (177), West Hancock (181) and Camp Point Central (250).

Tibbitts takes medalist as Macomb wins triangular

HAMILTON, Ill. — The Macomb girls golf team won a triangular at Deer Run Golf Course, posting a 205 total. Illini West shot a 240 and West Hancock a 244. The Bombers’ Brenlee Tibbitts matched her career low for nine holes and took medalist honors with a 42. Priya Wear shot a 55 for Illini West.

C-SC women settle for tie

CANTON, Mo. — The Culver-Stockton College women’s soccer team’s win streak ended at four consecutive games, but the unbeaten streak remains intact after a 2-2 tie with Saint Ambrose on Wednesday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

The Bees scored the tying goal with 57 seconds remaining in regulation. Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez scored her ninth goal of the season, giving the Wildcats the lead in the 63rd minute. Savannah Stauffer scored the other goal for C-SC.

C-SC men get shut out

CANTON, Mo. — The Culver-Stockton College men’s soccer team fell to 0-2-2 after a 3-0 loss to Ottawa (Kan,) on Wednesday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium. The Wildcats were outshot 22-11.
