QUINCY — Soon enough, Alex Stratman will return home and begin preparing for the fall hunting season, where he will serve as a guide for those chasing whitetail deer and turkey. After that, he’ll focus on guiding hunters during the spring turkey season.

Before that happens, he’s going to savor every minute he has in West Yellowstone, Mont.

Stratman, a Quincy High School graduate, is working this summer for Big Sky Anglers, a fly fishing shop in West Yellowstone with close proximity to some of the best trout fishing in the world. He is gaining the knowledge necessary to grow as a hunting and fishing guide and eventually turn that into a full-time career.

Stratman recently joined Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman on a Zoom call to discuss all the fishing he’s been doing, his love of the outdoors and how he wants to turn the outdoor adventure into a dream job for this episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Shottenkirk Toyota.
