GLVC will add men’s volleyball as championship sport beginning in 2025-26 school year
QUINCY — The Quincy University men’s volleyball team is finally going to find itself on a more level playing field.
Thursday, the Great Lakes Valley Conference announced it is adding men’s volleyball as a championship sport beginning with the 2025-26 season. The GLVC will have seven teams participate in men’s volleyball with the addition of Roosevelt University and Thomas More University as associate members.
Quincy, Maryville, Missouri S&T, Rockhurst and Southwest Baptist are full-time GLVC members with men’s volleyball programs.
The 2024-25 season will be the Hawks’ final campaign in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, which is comprised mostly of NCAA Division I schools featuring the likes of Ohio State, Ball State and Loyola-Chicago.
The Hawks have not enjoyed a winning season since 2011 when they finished 22-14 overall and 3-9 in MIVA play. In the past 10 seasons, Quincy has gone 16-124 in MIVA play.
Devin Walker, who spent the previous two seasons as the Hawks’ assistant coach, will be entering his first season as QU’s head coach in 2025.
