QHS, QND girls soccer programs rack up all-sectional honors from IHSSCA

QUINCY — The stability and strength of the Quincy High School and Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer teams — their spines — received a plethora of postseason accolades.

Three Blue Devils and two Raiders were named to the all-sectional team by the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association, to go along with each team picking up three additional honors.

QHS finished 12-6-2 and won the Western Big 6 Conference championship behind the leadership of senior midfielders Bri Lannerd and Rian Moore and senior goalkeeper Taylor Fohey, who were each named all-sectional.

Lannerd scored a team-leading 28 goals and was named the conference MVP. Moore piled up 10 goals and 23 assists, while Fohey posted six shutouts.

QHS senior forward Taylor Routh, who scored 19 goals, was named honorable mention all-sectional. Lannerd was given academic all-sectional honors, while Fohey received an all-sectional sportsmanship honor.

QND finished with a 14-13 record, won a Class 1A regional championship and played for a sectional title with a pair of juniors leading the charge. Junior forward Makayla Patton and junior midfielder Sage Stratton each were named all-sectional.

Patton led the Raiders with 33 goals and is tied for the 11th most goals in QND history with 73 career goals. Stratton, who is a two-time all-sectional selection, led the Raiders with 14 assists, scored six goals and anchored the defensive midfield.

Freshman Sierra Thomas, who started as a center back but moved up to join the attack at times, finished with six goals and five assists and was an honorable mention all-sectional selection.

Senior defender Aubrey Sparrow received all-sectional sportsmanship honors, while senior goalkeeper Addison Van Hecke was given academic all-sectional honors.
