Rain wipes out opportunity to race at Adams County Speedway
QUINCY — The fourth annual Chad McCoy Memorial Race at Adams County Speedway have been rescheduled for July 3.
Track operators Jim and Tammy Lieurance first were forced to postpone Sunday night’s scheduled running following overnight and early morning rains. Later in the day, a hoped-for Monday rescheduling was also erased due to the overall conditions of not only the track, but the pits and parking areas.
The Chad McCoy Memorial is the track’s richest modified show of the season, paying $4,545 to win, $2,045 for second and $1,045 for third. The total modified purse is a little less than $20,000, and just earning a spot in the feature guarantees a driver at least $445.
Racing will resume June 2 at the .295-mile track at 8000 Broadway. Regular weekly classes involving the crate late models, modifieds, sport mods, stock cars, 4-Cylinders and Crown Vics will be on the schedule.
The next special will be June 9 when the Iowa-based Sprint Invaders make their annual visit to Quincy.
