Schuck on a Truck: Abbey Schreacke discusses her freshman season with Mizzou hoops

QUINCY — Spring break is giving Abbey Schreacke the opportunity to spend some time with family and go fishing, as much as the weather permits. It doesn’t mean trips to the gym have been put on hiatus. The Quincy Notre Dame graduate has worked out at The Pit in order to be ready to help the University of Missouri women’s basketball team make offseason strides upon her return to Columbia, Mo.

Schreacke established herself as a rising star in the Southeastern Conference throughout her freshman campaign, shooting a Mizzou-leading 38.5 percent from 3-point range while making 50 treys, which ranked second on the team. The 6-foot Schreacke averaged 24.3 minutes off the bench — she made two starts — to go along with 7.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Asked to play point guard at times, Schreacke was third on the team in assists (52) and steals (18).

Schreacke took time while home to join Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman on the tailgate of his pickup to discuss life on the Mizzou campus, adjusting to the college game and working to help the Tigers become more competitive in the SEC for this episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Shottenkirk Toyota.
