CSE’s Miller receives second-team all-state honors, three others earn honorable mention

QUINCY — Lauren Miller’s game is drawing interest from NCAA Division I and II women’s basketball coaches throughout the Midwest.

For good reason.

The Central-Southeastern junior forward was named a Class 2A second-team all-stater this week by the Illinois Media. She is the only area girls player to be named all-state in any of the four classes, while Quincy Notre Dame’s Sage Stratton and Quincy High School’s Taylor Fohey and Jada Brown received honorable mention in their respective classes.

The 5-foot-10 Miller led the Panthers to a 29-3 record, a sectional championship and an elite eight berth. A three-time All-West Central Conference selection, Miller averaged 18.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 3.1 assists, while shooting 55.3 percent from the field.

She was an Illinois Basketball Coaches Association honorable mention all-stater as a sophomore and holds scholarship offers from Western Illinois University, Lindenwood Univesity and Quincy University.

Stratton, a 5-foot-8 junior guard, led QND to a No. 3 state ranking in Class 3A, a 28-5 record and a Sweet 16 appearance. She averaged 14.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game. She shot 45 percent from the field and 38 percent from 3-point range. Stratton is receiving recruiting interest from Southern Indiana, Indianapolis and Truman State.

Fohey, a 6-foot senior forward, helped the Blue Devils to back-to-back 20-win seasons at the Class 4A level. The McKendree University signee averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game in earning first-team All-Western Big 6 Conference honors. She shot 49.5 percent from the field and 75.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Brown, a 6-foot freshman forward, and the Blue Devils finished with a 25-7 record and a second-place finish in the WB6. She averaged 18 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 64.5 percent from the field and 78.8 percent from the free-throw line. She also was a first-team All-WB6 selection.
