KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The run didn’t stop when the third quarter ended.

That was bad news for the Quincy University women’s basketball team.

Having led by as many as eight points, Quincy saw its advantage completely evaporate in the span of 3 minutes, 33 seconds as Rockhurst closed the third quarter Wednesday night on a 13-4 run. Rockhurst followed it up by scoring the first six points of the fourth quarter and never trailed again in a 69-60 victory at Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse.

Rockhurst pushed its advantage to double digits twice in the final 10 minutes to open the 2024 portion of the season with a Great Lakes Valley Conference victory.

Quincy missed its final four field-goal attempts of the third quarter after going 8 of 10 from the field the first seven minutes of the frame. In the fourth quarter, Quincy shot 35.7 percent from the field in the fourth quarter and went 2 of 8 from 3-point range in the second half.

Cymirah Williams finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds for Quincy, notching her sixth double-double of the season. Mariann Blass led Quincy with 16 points off the bench, but Quincy committed 30 turnovers that led to 26 points for Rockhurst.

Quincy (4-9, 3-4 GLVC) plays its first home game of 2024 at 1 p.m. Saturday against Southwest Baptist at Pepsi Arena.
