Quincy High School 69, Sterling 19: The Blue Devils picked up another Western Big 6 Conference victory, limiting the Golden Warriors to one field goal in the first quarter. Quincy led 29-3 at the end of the first quarter in its third straight victory, which upped the Blue Devils’ record to 9-8 overall and 5-6 in the WB6. Asia Seangmany led the Blue Devils with 16 points and Laci Novosel added 10 as 11 different players scored.
At Mount Sterling, Ill.
Illini West 47, Brown County 34: The Chargers’ defense forced the Hornets to struggle from the field in the first half and fall behind 18-9 at halftime. Brown County went 3 of 20 from the field and 0 of 4 from 3-point range over the first 16 minutes. Illini West, which is ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, extended the lead to 17 points by the end of the third quarter and to as many as 19 points in the fourth quarter. Caydee Kirkham led the Chargers with 19 points, while Josie Bryan scored seven of her nine points in the fourth quarter. Klare Flynn led the Hornets, ranked seventh in Class 1A, with 14 points, while Katey Flynn was held to five as Brown County finished the game without making a 3-pointer. Illini West is 26-2 overall, while Brown County is 22-5 with two losses to the Chargers.

John Wood Community College 83, Lincoln Land Community College 76: The Trail Blazers won their fourth straight Mid-West Athletic Conference game with a 3-point barrage. JWCC went 13 of 25 from 3-point range. Jarvis Jennings led the Trail Blazers with 29 points, while Brandon Kracht and Ja’Veon Taylor each had 19 points. JWCC is 15-8 overall and 4-1 in the MWAC.
Women’s basketball
At Pepsi Arena, Quincy
Southern Indiana 87, Quincy University 59: The Screaming Eagles shot better than 52 percent from the field in each of the first three quarters and never allowed the Hawks the hopes of rallying after falling behind by double digits in the first quarter. Quincy’s offensive woes led to 36.1 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent shooting from 3-point range in the Great Lakes Valley Conference loss. Beth Matas Martin led the Hawks (6-13, 2-10 GLVC) with 11 points and Emma Knipe added 10.

John Wood Community College 40, Lincoln Land Community College 38: The Trail Blazers upset the No. 6 Loggers in Mid-West Athletic Conference play by holding them without a field goal over the final 6:19 of regulation. JWCC outscored Lincoln Land 25-14 in the second half. Stephanie Anders led the Trail Blazers with 17 points, while Lenlee Klusman had 10 points. JWCC is 7-11 overall and 1-2 in the MWAC.
