QU’s Tabakovic earns first-team All-GLVC honors, Palmyra’s Plunkett among second-team picks
QUINCY — The Quincy University football team’s season, which ended with just the fifth winning record in the past 28 years, resulted in 15 players earning All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors.
Senior defensive lineman David Tabakovic was the Hawks’ lone first-team selection.
The 6-foot-2 Tabakovic led the Hawks with 15 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks, while forcing two fumbles and recovering one. He finished the season with 50 tackles total. He anchored the No. 1 rushing defense in the GLVC as the Hawks allowed only 84.6 yards rushing per game.
Five players — sophomore linebacker Brock Inman, senior linebacker Peyton Plunkett, senior defensive back Joseph Webb, junior running back Teon Dollard and junior offensive lineman Austin Dearing — were named to the second team.
Inman led the QU defense with 71 tackles and five interceptions, while Plunkett had 56 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. Webb had 44 tackles and two interceptions. Dollard had 580 yards rushing and five touchdowns, while Dearing helped the Hawks average 203.4 yards rushing and 391.5 total yards per game.
Honorable mention selections for QU were junior quarterback Drake Davis, junior running back JQ Brown, senior wide receiver Marlin Washington, junior tight end Hans Wisnewski, junior defensive lineman Brandon Granger, senior defensive lineman Cole Schnettgoecke, junior defensive back David Lewis, junior return specialist Anthony Gilpin Jr., and sophomore long snapper Joey Lyon.
