Liquor Booth Shot of the Game: QND’s Schreacke hits game-winner against Illini West

CARTHAGE, Ill. — Abbey Schreacke’s reaction said everything.

This one meant something.

An all-state junior guard on the Quincy Notre Dame girls basketball team, Schreacke caught the ball on the left block as time ticked away in the final 15 seconds of last Thursday’s state-ranked showdown with Illini West and the game tied at 38. She dribbled and turned, burying a jumper from the left baseline with 6.7 seconds remaining in regulation.

A fist pump and scream followed.

That’s rare for the usually stoic and steady Schreacke. But that shot propelled second-ranked QND to a 40-38 victory over third-ranked Illini West and ended the Chargers’ 22-game winning streak.
