Schuck on a Truck: QND football coach Jack Cornell discusses beards and playoffs

QUINCY — Jack Cornell decided to quit shaving when his high school wrestling career was over, and now the beard is part of his signature look. Success is part of that appearance, too.

An offensive lineman at the University of Illinois who went on to be a part of the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad during the Super Bowl season in 2012 and made his NFL debut for the Los Angeles Raiders in 2013, Cornell has led to QND to the playoffs in four of his six seasons at the helm.

The Raiders will face Nashville at 1 p.m. Saturday at Advance Physical Therapy Field in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Cornell joined Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman on the tailgate of his pickup to discuss beard maintenance, practicing in November and playoff football for this episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Shottenkirk Toyota.
