QUINCY — A week after sweeping its crosstown rival in a dual match, the Quincy High School girls tennis team had to fight for a pair of doubles victories to finish off a victory against Quincy Notre Dame on Monday at the Greeman Tennis Center in Reservoir Park.

The No. 1 doubles team of Lily and Phoebe Hayes beat the Raiders’ Aly Young and Alyssa Ley 8-6 and the No. 2 squad of Anika Reddy and Amelia Willing beat QND’s Morgan Zanger and Kaitlyn Brown 8-2 to punctuate the Blue Devils’ 6-3 victory.

The Raiders’ Lydia Miller and Paige Bliven won the No. 3 doubles match, beating Mary Dodd and Anshu Podaralla 8-6.

In singles play, Reddy powered past Young at No. 1, winning 6-3, 6-1 to improve to 23-5 this season ahead of this weekend’s Western Big 6 Conference tournament. Lily Hayes beat Ley 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2, and Phoebe Hayes beat Zanger 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3.

Brown’s 2-6, 7-5 (10-8) victory over Dodd at No. 4 and Bliven’s 6-3, 7-6 victory over Podaralla at No. 6 gave the Raiders’ hope, but Willing’s rally for a 3-6, 6-0 (10-4) victory over Miller at No. 5 tipped the scales in QHS’s favor going into doubles.
