Championship Saturday set as Illini West, Southeastern, Unity to battle for volleyball title
AUGUSTA, Ill. — The top volleyball teams in each pool in the Lady Suns Classic cemented their spot in the championship bracket with straight-set sweeps Thursday night.
Illini West continued its strong play, beating Brown County 25-16, 25-12. Josie Bryan led the Chargers with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Corin Robinson had 12 assists, nine service points and an ace, and Reagan Reed had six kills, five assists and five service points.
Southeastern won its third straight match in straight sets, beating West Hancock 25-14, 25-17, while Unity beat Beardstown 25-10, 25-18.
The champion will be crowned Saturday with Unity playing Southeastern at 3 p.m., Illini West facing Unity at 4 p.m., and Southeastern and Illini West capping the event at 5 p.m.
