Heart coaches pick C-SC football team to finish third in North Division preseason poll
CANTON, Mo. — The Culver-Stockton College football team finds itself in a familiar preseason position.
Chasing Grand View in the Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division.
The reigning Heart champion is picked to win the North Division for the fifth straight year, according to a poll of the league’s coaches. Grand View went 5-0 in the Heart North last season and finished 13-1 overall. The Vikings have won four consecutive North Division titles.
Meanwhile, C-SC is picked third in the North with Peru State sliding into the No. 2 spot.
The Wildcats head into head coach Tom Sallay’s seventh season at the helm coming off a 5-6 season in which they finished 3-2 in the Heart North. C-SC lost its final two games of the regular season to Grand View and Peru State.
The remaining North Division teams in order are William Penn, Graceland and Clarke. Benedictine is picked to win the Heart South championship.
C-SC opens its season August 26 at Mount Mary in Yankton, S.D. The Wildcats’ Heart North opener is October 12 at Grand View in Des Moines, Iowa.
