SHELBINA, Mo. — Miranda Patterson did what every great player does.
She did whatever was necessary to win.
If that was to score, she was capable, leading the South Shelby girls basketball team at 15 points per game. If that was to defend, she locked down, piling up 150 steals in the last two seasons combined. If she had to shoot the three, she made sure she could, hitting at a 39-percent clip last winter.
Patterson guided South Shelby on an incredible run of success the last two seasons, leading the Lady Birds to the Class 3 state tournament as a junior and a 50-10 combined record as a junior and senior. She was twice named the Clarence Cannon Conference Player of the Year and a first-team all-state selection both years as well.
All those skills and all of that success are going to make her tough to contend with in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, where she will suit up for Maryville.
Patterson will represent South Shelby on the Missouri squad for the second Muddy River Showcase, taking place June 17 at John Wood Community College’s Student Activity Center.
