HLGU Alumni and Friends Golf Classic raises nearly $1,800 to support annual fund
HANNIBAL, Mo. — The HLGU annual Alumni and Friends Golf Classic was held at Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal on Oct. 7, with 14 teams competing scramble-style for the winning title.
The Bethel Baptist team, comprised of Ron Wilde, Gary Holland, Al Groner and Bob Mitchell, took first place with a score of 55 on the par 72 course. In second place with a score of 56 was an alumni team which included Joe Brooks, Aaron Wooff, Austin McDowell and Ben White. A team that previously had won the classic, 3-Peat, made up of Matthew Jones, Eric Abts, Josh Gottman, and Matthan Veanes, finished in third place with a score of 58.
The longest putt award went to Clay Biggs. Closest to the pin was David Dawdy, and the longest drive was by Austin McDowell.
This year’s tournament brought in nearly $1,800 to support HLGU’s annual fund. The date for next year’s event is Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, at Norwoods.
