Quincy High School 45, Belleville Althoff 31: A 13-2 run in the second quarter gave the Blue Devils control in their home opener. Sophomore forward Taylor Fohey scored nine of her game-high 16 points in the second quarter. Leah Chevalier and Leila Dade scored 10 points apiece for the Blue Devils.
Lady Hornet Classic
At Mount Sterling, Ill.
Unity 57, Brown County 46: The Mustangs outscored the Hornets 16-7 in the third quarter, turning a two-point halftime lead into a double-digit advantage in the championship game. Unity made just enough free throws — 8 of 16 — in the fourth quarter to stave off a Brown County comeback. Ashlynn Arnsman led the Mustangs with 15 points, while Kyra Carothers added 12 points. Klare Flynn led the Hornets with 17 points, but she was held scoreless in the third quarter.
Jacksonville Routt 53, West Hancock 50: The Rockets went 6 of 8 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to salt away the victory. Bailey Barber led the Titans with 15 points and Payton Huston added 14, but they combined for just two points in the fourth quarter.
Pittsfield 31, West Prairie 20: Allie Stambaugh scored eight points in the third quarter as the Saukees outscored the Cyclones 12-1 to take control. The game was tied at 13 at halftime. Stambaugh finished with 12 points, and Ellie Ten Eyck had eight.
Liberty 47, Beardstown 40: The Eagles outscored the Tigers 14-3 in the fourth quarter to rally for the victory. Cora Schuette led Liberty with 20 points, scoring seven in the fourth quarter.
Pleasant Hill/Western 34, Rushville-Industry 28: The Wolves limited the Rockets to five points in the second quarter, building an 11-point halftime lead.
