MOWEAQUA, Ill. — With an ample amount of time to prepare its defense, the Moweaqua Central A&M football team didn’t allow Camp Point Central to run wild.

It means the Raiders are rolling on.

The Panthers were limited to 220 yards of total offense in Saturday’s Class 1A second-round playoff game and couldn’t overcome a 15-point halftime deficit, losing 28-6 in the rematch of the hastily put together Week 8 matchup.

Because of COVID protocols and disciplinary issues, both the Panthers and the Raiders ended up without a Week 8 opponent until they connected two days before kickoff. Central A&M made the trip to Camp Point and suffered a 44-14 loss.

This time, the Raiders shut down the Panthers’ Garret Williams and Issac Genenbacher — both 1,000-yard backs — and didn’t allow Central to score until 3:51 remained in the second quarter as Connor Griffin plowed in on a 10-yard run.

With 5:19 remaining in the third quarter, Moweaqua Central A&M’s James Paradee scored on a 2-yard run to make it a 22-point advantage.

Central ends its season with a 9-2 record.
