Women’s Soccer
At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.
Baker 4, Culver-Stockton College 3: First, the lights went out in the stadium. Then they went out on the Wildcats’ season. Tied at 3 through regulation and two overtimes, the Owls won a penalty-kick shootout to capture the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal. Both teams made their first three PK attempts before C-SC’s Sierra Schlemmer hit the crossbar in the fourth round. After Baker converted, a shot by C-SC’s Savannah Stauffer was saved to end it. Kirstin Jannin, Jody Ellis and Montse Caparros each scored in the first half as the Wildcats built a 3-1 lead. C-SC ends its season with a 13-4-2 record.
Men’s Basketball
At Sedalia, Mo.
John Wood Community College 61, State Fair Community College 60: The Trail Blazers capped the first road trip of the season by beating the NJCAA Division I program on its own floor. Ja’Veon Taylor led JWCC with 12 points, while Jarvis Jennings added 11.
At Van Dixhorn Arena, Deerfield, Ill.
Culver-Stockton College 99, Trinity International 93: The Wildcats improved to 4-0 with an overtime victory in the Trinity International Classic. C-SC owned a 54-26 edge in points in the paint and a 22-13 edge in second-chance points, finishing with five players in double figures. Jalen Blaize led the Wildcats with 26 points, while Zac Rzewnicki had 15 points and 16 rebounds and Quinton Wallace had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Women’s Basketball
At Charles Field House, Canton, Mo.
Culver-Stockton College 80, Hannibal-LaGrange 64: The Wildcats swept the Oak Hill Inn and Suites Classic, scoring 47 points in the second and third quarters combined. Addison Newbon led C-SC with 15 points, while Brianna Aluya had 13 points. Makayla Hostettler led HLGU with 21 points.
At Moberly, Mo.
Vincennes University 74, John Wood Community College 43: Stephanie Anders led the Trail Blazers with 16 points in the loss.
Women’s Volleyball
At Pepsi Arena
Quincy University d. McKendree: The Hawks continue climbing the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings after sweeping the Bearcats 25-20, 25-24, 25-14. Alyssa Grimm led Quincy with 12 kills, while Emily Rehagen had nine kills and eight digs. Makayla Knoblauch had 28 assists and four blocks. Quincy is 15-12 overall and 9-7 in the GLVC.
