Wolf adds name to Liberty cross country lore with 12th-place finish at state meet

PEORIA, Ill. — Cannen Wolf’s best run of his prep cross country career left him with a place in Liberty lore.

Wolf, a senior, finished 12th at the Class 1A state cross country championships Saturday at Detweiller Park, completing the 3-mile course in a personal-best time of 15 minutes, 18.91 seconds. He is the first Liberty boys runner to medal at the state meet since 2005 and is one of nine different Eagles to have medaled all-time.

Six of the other eight are Oberts.

West Hancock senior Miles Sheppard finished third individually, running a 14:31.96. Paxton-Buckley-Loda’s Ryder James won the state title in 14:16.89.

In the Class 3A boys race, Quincy High School senior Fiker Rosen finished 101st in 15:33.21. In the Class 3A girls race, Quincy High School senior Anna Schuering finished 65th in 17:55.87.
