BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Quincy University women’s soccer team scored a season-high six goals in the season finale on Sunday in a 6-0 shutout victory over Southwest Baptist.

Lauren Crane ended her QU career by recording her first hat trick. Samaris Alvarado, Morgan Evans and Sydney Gorman also scored for the Hawks.

The Hawks finished the year with a 7-9 record. They had a 6-8 record in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, placing ninth. The top eight teams in the league qualify for next week’s conference tournament. Missouri-St. Louis was the eighth place team with a 6-6-2 record.

A hand ball by the Bearcats inside the penalty area in the game’s fourth minute set up Crane’s first goal on her fifth penalty kick goal of the season. Less than four minutes later, Alvarado squeezed a pass to Crane, who scored again.

Alvarado converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute after getting fouled inside the penalty area to increase QU’s lead to 3-0.

Crane scored again less than two minutes later. Alvarado sent a strong shot on goal that was deflected by SBU’s goalkeeper, and Crane scored on the rebound for her 11th goal of the season.

Evans converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute, and Gorman’s goal came on a free kick. It was her first goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Haley Glenn stopped six shots by the Bearcats to tally her first career shutout for QU.
