Novosel takes third, Murphy ties for sixth at IESA state golf tournament
METAMORA, Ill. — A pair of local products finished in the top 10 at the Illinois Elementary School Association state boys golf tournament last weekend at Metamora Fields.
Quincy’s Ty Novosel, an eighth grader at Quincy Junior High School, finished third by shooting a 1-over 72. Carthage’s Nolan Murphy, a seventh grader, finished tied for sixth with a 76.
Keeden Orpet-Hulett, a Quincy Catholic schools seventh grader, and Grant Lepper, a Quincy Catholic eighth grader, tied for 23rd with 84s. Michael Lepper, a Quincy Catholic sixth grader, finished 61st with a 96, and Andrew Ali, a QJHS seventh grader, was 64th with a 98.
In the girls tournament at Metamora Fields, Quincy Catholic seventh grader Nancy Scholz finished tied for 45th with a 109, while Quincy Catholic seventh grader Natalie Druffel and Carthage seventh grader Sophia White tied for 55th with a 116.
