QUINCY — Three former Quincy men’s city golf champions are in position to add a senior city championship to their title haul.

Scott Gilliland leads the field in the 50-and-over event at Westview Golf Course after shooting a 1-under 70 in Saturday’s first round. Gilliland won city championships in 1991 and 2021 along with the 2020 senior city championship the year he turned 50.

Among the group chasing him will be Tim Eaton and John Norris, who each carded a 4-over 75. Eaton won the city title in 2007 and has since won four senior championships, including three in row from 2009-11. Norris won the city championship in 1987.

Also in the hunt are Mark Scarbrough (1-over 72), Garry Boots (4-over 75) and Gary Anders (5-over 76).

There are 25 golfers in the championship flight.

John Juette shot a 1-over 72 and leads the nine-player gold flight.
