QUINCY — The Quincy Gems closed the first half of the season with a 13-3 loss at home Sunday night to the O’Fallon Hoots in a Prospect League game at QU Stadium.

The Gems ended the first half of the season with a 19-13 record, good enough for first place in the Great River Division. The Gems will take two days off before returning to action on Wednesday at home against Illinois Valley.

The Hoots scored four runs in the first three innings against Quincy starter Kolby Kiser. Six Quincy relievers pitched the next six innings, giving up nine more runs. The pitching staffs for both teams combined to walk 15 batters and hit five more.

Quincy was limited to four hits in the game. Zack Stewart had two hits for the Gems.
